What is Semalix?

Semalix is Semaglutide, which is commonly prescribed for type 2 diabetes management and weight loss.

How does Semalix (Semaglutide) work?

Semaglutide belongs to a class of medicines called GLP-1 receptor agonists. It mimics a natural hormone in the body that helps regulate blood sugar and appetite.

Its key actions include:

  1. Controls blood sugar – Stimulates insulin release when blood sugar is high.
  2. Reduces appetite – Acts on brain centers that control hunger.
  3. Slows stomach emptying – Makes you feel full for longer.
  4. Supports weight loss – Due to reduced calorie intake and improved metabolism.

How it is taken?

  • Usually given as a once-weekly injection.
  • Injected under the skin (subcutaneous) in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm.
  • Dose is gradually increased by the doctor.
  • Take your missed dose between Day 2 and 5; if you reach Day 6 or 7, skip it and resume your regular dose on Day 8.
