IRONUP is an injectable form of Ferric Carboxymaltose, a type of iron used to treat iron deficiency in adults when oral iron supplements don’t work or can’t be used. It is especially helpful for patients who have difficulty absorbing oral iron due to gastrointestinal issues or for those who have lost blood, such as during surgery or dialysis.
IRONUP is available in the following strengths:
- 500 mg in a 10 mL vial
- 750 mg in a 15 mL vial
- 1000 mg in a 20 mL vial
- By Injection: Directly injected into a vein.
- By Infusion: Administered through an intravenous infusion.
- During Hemodialysis: Can be injected undiluted directly into the venous limb of the dialysis machine.
- For patients weighing less than 35 kg, the total dose of iron should not exceed 500 mg.
- To maintain stability, dilutions to concentrations of less than 2 mg iron/mL are not allowed.
